Blue Mountains residents invited to ‘drop in’ and chat about Wellington next Thursday
Hello
Many of your residents probably travel into Wellington City reasonably regularly to work, to travel to the airport, or to catch up with family and friends. We’re really interested in hearing how they find travelling between Ngauranga and the Airport – what they like, what the find frustrating and what they think needs improving!
We’re holding a ‘drop in’ session in Upper Hutt this coming Thursday and would love to see some Blue Mountains residents at the Cosmopolitan Club anytime from 4pm – 7pm and talk about Wellington.
Please circulate this information to Blue Mountains residents – the Let’s Get Wellington Moving team really wants to hear from people throughout the region.
Please get in touch if you have any questions or would like more information.
Regards
Philippa Lagan

UPPER HUTT DROP-IN SESSION
Where: The Cosmopolitan Club, 11 Logan Street
When: Thursday 5 May, anytime from 4pm – 7pm
If you find travelling in and through Wellington a pain, or a breeze, or something in between, your region’s transport leaders want to know – and Wairarapa residents are invited to drop in and have their say next Thursday 5 May at the Cosmopolitan Club.
“We’re having a fresh, region-wide conversation about how we can keep Wellington moving, vibrant and one of the best places in the world to live,” says Jim Bentley, director of Let’s Get Wellington Moving, a joint initiative of Greater Wellington Regional Council, Wellington City Council and the NZ Transport Agency.
“Our focus is on the area between Ngauranga and Wellington Airport encompassing the Wellington Urban Motorway to Wellington Hospital and International Airport and connections to the eastern and southern suburbs. We really want to understand how people throughout the region experience travelling in and through this part of Wellington and what they value most about how Wellington City looks, feels and works.
Upper Hutt Mayor Wayne Guppy is encouraging Upper Hutt people to be part of this conversation. “A well-connected region is really important; we have a large number of people commuting from Upper Hutt for work and education in Wellington City. We also travel in to use the airport and other facilities, attend events and to catch up with family and friends. I encourage you to pop in to the Cossie Club on 5 May and share your experience of getting around and through this area.”
The drop in session will be an opportunity for people to talk to those directly involved with the Let’s Get Wellington Moving programme. While there, people can also go online and complete a couple of surveys. Or they can stick post-its on maps pointing out what they like and don’t like about travelling in this part of the Capital.
People’s views and feedback will be used to develop some basic principles for good city and transport design. These principles will guide the development of a range of possible scenarios that would make it easier for people to get around as well as enhancing the look, feel and function of the city.
